Pharma Trimazine Pump Oral Suspension
Sulphonamides are bacteriostatic agents and trimethoprim is bactericidal, but when used in combination, the potentiated Suflas are bactericidal. Potentiated Suflas sequentially inhibit enzymes in the folic acid pathway, inhibiting bacterial thymidine synthesis. The sulphonamide blocks the conversion of para-amino benzoic acid (PABA) to dihydrofolic acid (DFA), and trimethoprim blocks the conversion of DFA to tetrahydrofolic acid by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase. The kaolin/pectin used primarily in veterinary medicine as an oral anti-diarrheal agent. It has also been used as an adsorbent agent following the ingestion of certain toxins. Administration may be difficult due to the large volumes that may be necessary to give orally.
